VGMS: “A Lone Prayer” – Persona Portable
![]()
“Video Game Music Spotlight” or VGMS for short, is a series of articles that will be covering songs that are very memorable and are still epic to this day. These songs can range from any video game on any video game platform ever created in the history of video games.
I'm extremely late to the Persona bandwagon but after playing a good amount of the PSP version of "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona" I must say it's a really good game. The quirkiness originally annoyed me at first, but it makes it unique and after a while I kind of enjoyed traveling through the labyrinth-like areas. Another neat feature was being able to talk to the enemy, yes talk to the demons that are trying to kill you. If you play your dialogue choices right you can get a spell card that attribute to you unlocking more personas for your characters to unleash in battle.
One thought that never escaped my mind from the beginning of the PSP version of the game was how excellent the music was. From "School Days" to "Let The Butterflies Spread Until Dawn" to the battle theme "A Lone Prayer". Talk about stretching from the norm, not many battle themes have vocals in them, and very little don't become annoying with time. The guitars & synths really add to the epic-ness of the song with the vocals being powerful and catchy. It sucks that no one has officially ever released the lyrics to the song but the Persona community has a good idea of what they are.
"Let The Butterflies Spread Until Dawn" also deserves a spot here for being an awesome overworld theme.
