About two weeks ago a former mod who goes by the name of DevinH exposed the controversial upcoming zombie MMO “The War Z” from the origins of the game to its handling of employees and game development process. Here are some key points to take away from his post:
“WarZ is a direct port over from War Inc. They literally took the game and added NPCs, made a large map, and changed around camera angles and gun settings while adding more functionality and switching over some things. ALL ART however was actually done in-house by their amazing ART team. (Those were the best guys to know, they were in touch more with the community than Kewk)
They randomly ban accounts that have a certain amount of time spent playing in-game, knowing they are hooked on the game so they re-buy the game.
Their anti-hack is actually functional but here’s the kicker..wanna know WHY their bans are TEMPORARY the first time around? 0.8% hacking? Try an EXTREMELY LARGE PORTION of the player base is hacking. If they banned everyone they’d have a mass refund issue on their hands, and no one to play their piss poor of an excuse game.
They plan to HALT DEVELOPMENT AND ABANDON THE GAME in SIX months if revenue is not enough for them (I.E. People are not buying GC and spending the fuck out of it) — take note, if they do not get ENOUGH revenue. They will have enough revenue to pay for the game development for over a year at this point in time already, but if they don’t get enough to give themselves regular raises they will stop making the game and shut down the servers and website.”
So not only is their game a rehash of another with zombie elements thrown in but also add in bad business practices and get-rich-quick scheming going on you’ve got one hell of a company to put this evil-masterminded plot together.
Let’s also take into account what another former War Z player had to say as well:
“They just released clan functionality with two awesome features!
- You have to pay to make the clan!
- The clan deletes itself after an hour!
Wow! Ooh! Ahh! If they can’t even get something as simple as clans right, what makes you think they can do anything else properly? Avoid this game like the plague it is. Take it from someone who has been there for MONTHS, as well as Devin. We’ve seen how they operate, and no one deserves to lose their money. ” – Xavier Horowitz from RhinoCrunch
This is the kicker, amazing customer support (click to make big):
If you’re asking for a refund good luck, users have reported that they have been forced to wait until the full product releases or else they will suffer a global black-listing on their bank accounts. Others have been lucky enough to get their refunds and be on their merry way.
Since that forum post the former volunteer moderator posted a Youtube video stating that he was lying and that he was sorry. Sergey, the head honcho behind the game was apparently getting ready to use legal action before making confronting him about these so-called lies.
What I do not understand is, if these are all lies from Devin then why are other users so easy to believe into thinking that all of what he stated was true? It’s not just from RhinoCrunch users but from other places on the internet, others also stating how much of a scam it is.
I’ll be honest, personally I wasn’t very interested in the game since I was too busy with other titles as well as thinking to myself that it was just a Day-Z ripoff but what really pushed me into not purchasing anything from those developers was the fact that you can permanently lose an item that was purchased with real-money forcing you to buy another if you liked it that much. That’s a huge scam. Other games like DCUO allow you to purchase boosters and such for a small price but buying something for say $5 and permanently losing them is a whole different story.
That’s like if I bought Future Batman from the marketplace for PvP Legends and after losing a match I permanently lose the ability to play as him until I purchase him again. The issue is that many people are still feeding into this game because it has zombies and it’s standalone unlike Day-Z in its current form.
The game has also stolen gameplay features from other games as well, namely Crysis.
Do not buy this game at all costs. If you do, you are supporting bad business practices as well as bad game design. Remember gamers, you can voice your opinion not only with what you post but with your wallets as well. Do not waste any form of money on these guys.
